Geography

The Azerbaijan Republic is located on a joint of two continents Europe and Asia, in heart of transcaucasus transport corridor where pass air and sea ways, main automobile and the railways connecting the Europe with the countries of Caucasus and the Central Asia. In the north Azerbaijan borders on the Russian Federation, in northwest with Georgia, in a southwest – with Armenia and Turkey, in the south – with Iran. In the east republic is washed with waters of Caspian sea.

The Azerbaijan Republic is the largest state on Caucasus. In the north and northwest of the country the Caucasian mountains, in the south Talysh (Girkan) mountains are located, divided by deep and fertile valleys.
